Ahrix releases his first ever track here with Nova. He is virtually unknown in the SoundCloud community and more but if he keeps producing tracks like this it will not take long until his name is recognized by many.
Nova is an instrumental House track produced by Dutch producer Ahrix. It was released through his YouTube channel on March 3, 2013 and promoted by NoCopyrightSounds 13 days later on March 16, 2013. It was converted into a release sometime before March 19, 2014,[1] and privated 4 years later due to Ahrix's contract with NCS expired. The track was eventually deleted sometime before February 6, 2020.
In-Depth Analysis[]
Composition[]
Nova is set to a tempo of 128 BPM and a key of E minor, with a 5-chord progression of C - Em - Am - G - D, thus ending on a "half cadence".
Form[]
The track is based on an 8-bar theme (period) which occurs throughout almost its entirety:
Accompaniment only:
Accompaniment and melody:
The period consists of 2 4-bar phrases with the same beginning and ending. However, the notes of both the accompaniment and melody in the middle bars of the second phrase are shifted an octave down from those of the first phrase.
The piano sheet music and audio are composed in a way that exactly matches the sounds of the original track outside the drops. In all of these instances, the melody consists of repeating notes, whereas the accompaniment consists of arpeggios ("broken chords") that span greater than an octave (most commonly a tenth). The notes of the melodies heard outside the drops sound staccato ("detached" or "shortened" in length). However, they do reach tenuto ("held" or "sustained" for full length) at some points.
These elements are heard for the vast majority of the track, with a 30-second section just after the middle mark being the sole exception. This section is entirely in E minor with no chord changes.[2] The melody here is also completely different from the rest of the track.
Aftermath[]
Nova is considered to be the primary influence of Alan Walker's track Fade. Both tracks share many elements in common, such as the repeating notes and arpeggios.

- ↑ While the track's chord progression (C - Em - Am - G - D) neither begins nor ends in either E minor or its relative major, G major, the fact that this section is wholly in E minor implies the track's overall key to be as such.
